Electric power transmission
Traditionally, transmission and distribution lines were owned by the identical company, but over the past decade or so several countries have introduced and promoted reforms to separate the two entities. One must take note of the voltage of incoming electricity, allowing it to connect from long distance high voltage transmission, to local lower voltage distribution when really trying to understand this topic. The transmission and distribution losses in the USA were estimated at 7% in 1995 due to electrical transmission power losses. Normally, losses are estimated from the discrepancy between energy lost during transport of the electricity in high power lines.
